14. april in a thousand words

Hey hi hello,

So here's the monthly Instagram post for April. Although I hardly uploaded on Instagram this month, I didn't want to ruin the routine (I still have hopes and dreams of becoming a famous blogger where people listen to my every whim and fancy).

Enjoy.

+ With Michelle Sarah Nathan and Kar May, the two interns that I spent most my time with at Hill + Knowlton. Already missing these girls sorely.
+ Taken for fucks on my last day in a Starbucks uniform. I need a fucking lifejob.
+ With the Swedish band Radio Dept. after I ran an interview with them. For a band who does not usually care much about media, they were extremely friendly and our interview was more like a conversation. They're committed socialists and didn't think too fondly of IKEA meatballs and Swedish House Mafia (called them douchebags). Loved it.
+ Salmon pizza that was bought for my by someone famous *coughEthanCurzoncough* thank you kor kor.
+ Although we were grievously broke, Sam and I decided to get pavlova at Mukha. The irony was that I was making a job enquiry there.
+ Your usual conceited selfie.

+ This one deserves it's own large-and-attention-grabbing-size because it garnered the most likes I ever got on Instagram (sadly only 39) and all the food was happily consumed by yours truly.

To make this post a little less pathetic, I'll end with The xx's new track called Together for the soundtrack of The Great Gatsby, cause y'know, The xx is all about sunshine and rainbows. The other records made for this movie are equally as stellar and the bomb diggity, so go YouTube them.

Till the next post.

Au revoir, mes amis.

11. march in a thousand words

Hey hi hello.

Okay so I admit I cheated. Didn’t actually write this post on the 31st, I was really at Starbucks getting my barista on. But I didn’t want my first post of April to be the close of a bad month.

Let me explain myself. The titles for my monthly Instagram posts will always be the same, so I really can’t be bothered to think of something new for this month. The reason why I’m saying this is because the pictures that I have posted this month do not even disclose the tip of the iceberg on what an fuckeduperratic month March has been.

I’ll tell you more in my next entry (also understood that it’s supposed to be on #twentyonethings but I’ll justify myself later). On with the Instagram post.

+ Two of the most beautiful girlfriends in my ugly life. Taken by Syira who thought she was logged into her own account.
+ At Anas’ birthday. Natural behavior.
+ My “so called” teaser attempt for #twentyonethings
+ Outfit of the day for Chinese New Year Day two. Not sure why I took so long to post this, maybe because I CAN.
+ Two extremely (and well aware of) narcissistic self shots taken in the office restroom. Conceited.

+ Taken the night before I had my haircut. Conceited two.
+ Before and after shots. Once again, so grateful for my stylist at Shawn Cutler who still gives me a discount despite my twice-a-year visits and knows my hair like his own (ok maybe not). Conceited three.
+ With the old man. Conceited four.
+ In the office, rocking my roots. Conceited five.
+ At Shawn Cutler. The only reason why this picture is here is to take up space. Conceited six.
+ A throwback picture. With two of the most amazing people in my life.

+ My much needed therapy. Idea was Sam’s and we literally emptied our wallets for this, but I definitely could have used it.
+ Was at the Women in Leadership Forum 2013 to help out at work. It’s not every day you put on a suit (and tie.)
+ (very) spicy tuna pasta that Hillary and I cooked up together.
+ Breakfast for champs

So there you have it. March in maybe fifty words.

I'm at a really bad place right now, people close to me will know why (not like anyone else reads my blog anyways). A rough patch is just an understatement, it feels more like I'm being dragged against the blades of a chainsaw inside and out. So yeah, I might not be posting here very soon or as often. I wish I could just rant and let it all out, but this isn't the right avenue or the right time. I may or may not still be doing #twentyonethings but perhaps in a smaller scale.

Just a quick update on my interviews though, by some strange miracle (or perhaps superwoman powers) I managed to secure all five internship positions. The hard part is definitely rejecting (the receiving end isn't the only one who suffers!) but I sort of have already made my decision. You will be the first to know once it's finalized.

Also, I got accepted into a university of my fourth choice.. out of four. But they offered me a merit scholarship as well. Although it isn't too glittery, its a scholarship nonetheless. Still waiting on San Diego.

I don't have much left to say. I'm going to cry in a corner now.

Till the next post.

Au revoir.

4. february in a thousand words

Hey hi hello,

Haven't blogged in almost a month, and I'm really sorry. I was down for two alternate weeks, one with a fever and the other with a bad case of the stomach flu. In between disorientation, feeling weak and crawling back home to mum's in Sepang for comfort and some TLC, I hardly had time to blog.

It nagged at me though, and occasionally ideas would spring about but every time I got into the office, I'm swamped with work so that I put blogging aside. I still work seven days a week, weekends at Starbucks and I admit it takes a toll on me. And of course there was the amazing, food-filled and fulfilling Penang trip with my best friends. So yeah, the past month has been pretty hectic for me.

Today's post is going to be simple. I've already built the content in the past month, so it's really no excuse, I can't say that I don't have time to sit down and write. So here goes nothing, my first Instagram post, for the month of February, in random order (in hopes to achieve some form of design, not). Hope you like it.

+ An impromptu family dinner (meaning with both my parents) that lead us to Pickle & Fig, a new cafe in Taman Tun. Slightly pricey, but food was amazing. I had smoked salmon sandwich, the picture in the middle on the right.
+ My new dolphin bookmark! I lost the orang asli handmade one that I used and loved for many books, when I was on the train. I was devastated so I decided to walk to Times and got a new one for myself there and then. Impulsive shopping habit strikes again.
+ Also got myself three mini Cath Kidston journals (after much thought and deliberation, this time round!) to journal my new soul-searching, trying-to-be-healthy-living, and live-out-my-dreams adventures.
+ A picture taken over a year ago, on the last day I saw my other half. Yes it's true, I've been living with only half of myself ever since. #throwback
+ Homemade Spaghetti Bologna courtesy of Daddy Chang. It had two different sausages, black pepper cocktails and chicken frankfurters, and some sliced tomatoes. Healthy living at its best (not.)
+ This amazingly adorable girl that was coloring on the train. Two days later she sat next to me, smiling and asking me what color her cartoons humans should be.

+ Nasi Kandar Line Clear when I was in Penang. Taken while waiting in line. The irony.
+ Convinced that I put on weight. Taken in our budget backpacker's inn in Penang. I will always remember this place.
+ Nasi Lemak Goreng, probably the best midnight food, especially when you're having munchies.
+ On a quiet, Saturday morning in Penang.
+ Chinese New Year this year. Why this post had over 20 likes still baffles me.
+ Beautiful artwork on some lamps being sold at Batu Feringghi.

+ Back when I had decent, short hair. Still feel like cutting it so badly.
+ The Penang bunch. I love some of these people to death.
+ Aaaand, here's how long my hair is right now. I had to flip it over that way, or else the nightmare from my childhood (middle partings) will revisit.

+ Taken in the office, my first public selfie of twenty thirteen.
+ And then another in Penang.
+ Random fireworks that burst out behind our dorms. They were so close I could feel the heat.

That's pretty much all I can manage for the week (haha). I've already got inspiration for the next few posts, but how I long it will take me to actually write it and publish it, that leaves for another dwelling.

Till the next post,

Au revoir, ma joli.
