5. 21 things by 21

Hey hi hello,

I can’t believe it’s already March, I wasn't even done with January OR February yet. Sigh.

I decided to revamp my blog a little. Figured that the previous one was a little too plain. Fret not if you're not a fan of it, I’ll probably get bored with this layout in a few months (or maybe less) and change it up again.

Anyways, I was scrolling through my Instagram timeline when I came across a user that posted pictures of things you might want to add to your bucket list. You know, places to visit before I start pushing daisies, or things to do before I turn thirty, etc. I mean, it’s really nothing new. You probably have your own bucket list, written on a piece of paper or in a dusty notebook sitting in the deepest corner of your room. I can vouch for my own previous and perhaps slightly too ambitious attempts of my own.

All that being said, I thought of trying again, and this time with a little twist.

You might have seen this on some of my social media, with my attempts at being "mysterious".

I’m calling this project, “21 things by 21”. Here's how it works: I’m turning twenty one this July 8th, and everyone in my generation knows that it’s a big hoohah. Instead of having a wild night out getting shitfaced and not remembering a thing of it (well, a party might be in order, but we’ll see), I decided to fulfill a mini bucket list before all the responsibility, obligations and expectations that are attached to being a twenty one year old arrives. I want to be a rebel, a hopeless romantic, an escapist and a child again.

Here's the catch (and the big hoohah)... I’m not going to decide what’s on it. Yep. YOU ARE.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be posting links to this page, collecting ideas and suggestions & I hope that you’re going to be part of it. Ideas can range from volunteering at the SPCA, going for parties three nights in a row, travel to a new state.. you get the gist. However, here are some things to bear in mind:
  • We're sadly bounded by time; I only have four months to complete these twenty one things.
  • Nothing too physically outrageous i.e. climb Mt. Kinabalu.
  • Nothing that will burn a hole in my wallet, I do work two jobs seven days a week, but I don't make enough, and I'm on a spending diet. The less money involved, the better :)
  • Nothing obscene, scandalous or that involves being naked or touching body parts. I do have a boyfriend and I intend to keep him.
  • Nothing hazardous as it would be ironic to die in celebration of my birthday.
  • Anything that’s fun, can be done in a group, or beneficial.
  • Surprise me.
  • Hey, if you have a suggestion that includes the both of us, I'm all ears!
I’m taking this project very seriously, and I hope that you guys will too. Feel free to comment below, send me a tweet with #twentyonethings, Facebook message, email or text message (do identify yourself to be regarded fervently and with respect). I’m doing this based on the assumption that I have a small audience of people who actually know and care for(I hope) me. Ideas will be shared with a few handpicked people who need to be a part of this milestone in my life, and we'll shortlist the twenty one items. Everything, of course, will be covered on this blog.

So get creative, people! I'm looking forward to hearing from you. xx

Till the next post,

Au revoir, mes amis.

  2. Hi Denise, Kheng Saik here.
Love your blog, you write so interestingly!
So, my one suggestion for your to do for your 21st:
Go be a street performer! Pick a busy corner in KL, and either make music or make people smile, either way, it will be an unforgettable experience :)

    1. Hi Kheng Saik!

Thanks for replying! Didn't know you still remembered me. Hehe. Thanks for the suggestion. I actually never thought of that, haha. Now I have to think of something to do, and I'll let you know when I do so you can come and laugh at me too. Hehe.

Hope to see you soon! :D
